How Upside Down Text Actually Works

True upside-down text doesn't rely on any special font or CSS trick. Instead, each letter is replaced by a Unicode character that happens to look like the upside-down version of that letter when read at normal orientation:

• "a" → ɐ (Latin Small Letter Turned A)
• "e" → ǝ (Latin Small Letter Turned E)
• "h" → ɥ (Latin Small Letter Turned H)
• "u" → n (n happens to look like upside-down U)

The word order is also reversed so that when you tilt the screen, the text reads left-to-right correctly. The result is a self-contained text puzzle that requires no app support to work.
